Even without the strongest supporters, these RPGs stole our hearts.

When Bioware produced good games, Jade Empire was one of his best. The title originally released on Xbox and later for the PC used elements from Chinese mythology and history to create a convincing real-time role-playing game. In a moral system that is very similar to the knight of the old republic, players have made decisions with which they could develop techniques either in the way of the open palm or the closed fist together with different ends for both. Jade Empire sold himself a few hundred thousand times and despite the publication on the unpleasant threshold of the next generation it remains one of the best bioware.
Sky of Arcadia
Sega Am1, later known as OverWorks, was known for a variety of different games for Arcades and Dreamcast. His most famous Dreamcast title is a RPG called Skies of Arcadia. Skies of Arcadia is located in a world of floating landscapes and celestial spires and offers an incredible occupation of characters, great struggles and great stories that seduce you (despite the slightly slow start). Although Skies of Arcadia is not very successful, it is a cult classic for fans of the Dreamcast era.
Riding and blade: warband
Mount and Blade: Warband is a stand-alone expansion of the baseline, but has built a much stronger community that sometimes borders fanatic. The degree of freedom is breathtaking - you can become a mercenary, founding a group, resulting war, commanding your own kingdom etc. While mod support allows a variety of different worlds, as Lord of the Rings, Warhammer, as you call it. Despite the obsolete graphic, Mount and Blade: Warband's fight and sheer depth have helped it remained relevant for almost a decade.
Grim Dawn
If you hear from Action-RPGs, either Diablo, Warframe or even Path of Exile are discussed. However, Crate Entertainments Grim Dawn is definitely in the same rhythm. It is a callback on the Diablo 2-style of Hack and Slash with its dark atmosphere and the methodological but hard fight. The adaptation is quite great thanks to the variety of classes and their mixture in Masteries. And the sheer amount of content of scary dungeons to the wave-based crucible means that they may be dozens, if not even hundreds of hours in it.
The age of decadence
At a time in which the consequences and game pleasure of a role-playing game are in the foreground, the age of the decadence of Iron Tower Studio is often overlooked. In a post-apocalyptic world, which is designed to the Roman kingdom, the player has numerous opportunities as he wants to play is it through fight or pacifism and dialogue. It is so important to define your own game style that it is very easy to see yourself at the disadvantage, if you try to be an all-rounder. The Age of Decadeence is worth a look due to its depth and its repeat value.
Torment: tides of Numenera
Torment: Tides of Numenera was developed by Inxile Entertainment and had the task not to be made, Planescape: to follow torment. Even if your mileage depends on how successful it was (especially in combat), this is a complex, consistency-oriented game with some strong characters. In the setting for the ninth age, there are a variety of past civilizations, while players with powerful psychological entities like The Sorrov rings. Combine this with fascinating mechanisms such as tides that influence the world's reactions to your actions and torre: Tides of Numena offers unique complex and unforgettable experience.
Legend of Grimrock 2
Fancy a great dungeon crawler, who suits the classics of that time? Fast Human's Legend of Grimrock 2 plays on a mysterious island that you can explore in the first person. The world itself is pretty detailed with tricky puzzles and challenging fighting. It is not much handicraft required, but the mere secret of experience in combination with the excellent gameplay is worth a visit.
Riviera: The Promised Land
In the 90s and 2000s Atlus brought out a series of fascinating but niched games. Franchises like Shin Megami Tensei and Persona stood, but then there were titles like Riviera: The Promised Land. Riviera was developed by Sting Entertainment and was a mix of strategy combat and relationship structure, where the player was able to connect with a number of companions and thereby change the end. The fight was also pretty complex, where formations, the overdrive display and the durability played a role. Even today, the Riviera stands out very well with her unorthodox fight and its outstanding story.
Jeanne d'Arc
Jeanne D'Arc of Level-5, a fantasy version of the class history, was originally published in 2006 for the PSP before moving to the West in 2007. Here Jeanne builds an army to oppose the Demon-Detailed King Heinrich VI. To rescue Rescue France. However, this is not average tactical role-playing game - Jeanne d'Arc had some interesting mechanisms such as Unified Guard, where allies can reduce the damage for a group member and Burning Auras, so that other characters can attack opponents from behind. Do not be fooled by its aesthetics - Jeanne d'Arc is a role-playing game with outstanding action.
Phantom Brave
Similar to Atlus, Nippon Ichi software brought out a series of different titles, namely tactical role-playing games, with only a few like Disgaea really succeeded. Phantom Brave is an example of this - it is a girl named Marona, which can speak with ghosts known as phantoms. It can also limit phantoms to objects, which is useful during slaughter, as different objects improve certain class statistics. Mix motion modifiers such as sliding, canceling and throwing characters and enemies like Disgaea, Fusion, etc., and Phantom Brave becomes a complex but still intricate journey.
Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines
The last title of Fallout Veterans Tim Cain, Leonard Boyarsky and Jason Anderson as Troika Games, Vampires: The Masquerade - Bloodlines did not sell particularly well at startup. Apart from that, despite the difficult development and technical problems, it is still an incredibly detailed action roleplay. They play as a new vampire and have to survive in Los Angeles in the midst of different groups and clans. The choice of a clan offers various possibilities and it is possible to come either as a murderous psychopath or as a supple negotiator (with different success) through the game. Excellent letter and a solid story highlight it, even if the fight is not well aged. Hopefully the continuation of 2020 will fix that.
tyranny
What if evil would have won? What if you play as a fatebinder and would have to deal with the consequences to make sure the influence of the dark overlord is outstanding? Tyranny asks these questions and gives you a lot of freedom in terms of how angry they want to be. Decisions may affect who lives and dies, and players can freely adapt their character, depending on how often certain skills are used. Just do not expect a continuation after the sudden end.
The last story
Ironically, The Last Story is not the last game of Mistwalker conducted by Hironobu Sakaguchi, but perhaps the best role-playing game published by the studio. It turns out in a world that slowly dissolves - you control Zael, which is part of a group of mercenaries and is involved in the policy and the war of an island fortress with the Gurac. The fight takes place in real time, whereby the Ki controls other party members. You can give you orders to use the environment against enemies and even use some secretness by breaking the line of sight. Although the story is not groundbreaking, the characters are sympathetic and the gameplay is so fun that it is worth a look.
Walker profile
Tri-Aces Valkyrie profiles have beaten very well when publishing for PS ONE in 1999, but has since been forgotten since then (without the most recent mobile ports). It's a shame because the gameplay is great. It combines platform and round-based struggle with players who recruit different warriors for the arrival of Ragnarok. You have to decide which warriors will connect to the Sir in Valhalla for the crucial battle, which makes their current survival all the more fascinating power. If you are a fan of well-developed worlds, excellent struggles and a little hero management, Valkyrie profiles will unsettle you.
